A long and tiring day of surgery. Afterward, there are still rounds to do, pre-operative and post-operative patients to be seen. Lab reports to go through and act upon. Then read up for a difficult surgery the following day.
But there is a short time before all that. A moment to bask in the glow of a job well done. A little time to be grateful to be in a profession that offers so much fulfillment. Some time to look at the sun setting through the operating room window.
This time, I had the company of two monkeys – also watching the sunset, perched on the ledge on the other side of the operating theatre window.
A moment of peace and calm.
